There are people that make documentaries because they seek out truth. There are some that do it for money, for fame, or because it's simply a hot story that can sell. Documentaries sometimes show what we already know, in a more dramatic way. But sometimes documentaries are designed to be controversial.

Here's an interesting interview clip from the Discovery Channel, where the Lost Tomb of Jesus' director, Simcha Jacobivici answers his critics.
